Project partnerships
Phosphorix Research and Development Partnerships
Phosphorix have considerable experience as software development partners for Research and Development projects in the education, charity and telecoms sector.
- We offer research and development projects significant experience of HEFCE funded, JISC funded or commercially funded work.
- We offer new partnerships assistance with the bidding process and have successfully bid on a small number of funded projects ourselves.
We are well known as project partners who provide;
- the ability to rapidly develop and implement project prototypes
- agile creative input
- strategic contributions
- technical delivery
- technical know how
- community dissemination
We are well known for a number of well managed and succesfull projects, which can be seen in the case studies section.
Depending on the method preferred we often offer a level of match funding or match contribution to the partnership.
If we are developing from our own code base then we normally retain copyright through our open source licensing models, please see our open source statement.
This is important in public funded projects, it allows future development, future projects and far reaching benefits, with or without Phosphorix.
R & D Method A: Funded partners
If we are funded partners, there may be a grant involved, there may also be stipulations by the funding body regarding assignment of intellectual property and project outputs.
R & D Method B: Hired resource
We are "guns for hire" unless a contract is agreed in the first instance, we would retain any intellectual property.
R & D Method C: Specialist resource
This may be for a new proprietary software system or an exisiting software product. In this case, Phosphorix are hired specialists and do the job required under the project contract or sub contract, such as developing a Moodle or Joomla solution. In this instance the IP usually belongs to the project itself, or the original developers of the given specialist system.
R & D Method D: Continuation partners
In the education sector, it is very common for a new project to take over the work of a previous project. Phosphorix have substantial experience of partnering JISC projects which wish to continue the work or exploit the outputs of previous projects, please refer to the case studies section.
